Public lecture on the topic “Economic Development on the example of Eastern European Countries”
On December 12 public lecture on the topic “Economic Development on the example of Eastern European Countries” was held at Ilia State University Public Policy research and Training Center. Lecture was given by Professor of ISU Business School-Nikoloz Kavelashvili.
Mr. Kavelashvili generally described the origins of the theory of development and the stages of its formation. Then he offered to the audience different techniques of measuring development. The presenter also spoke about Georgia’s development stages and presented the dynamics of past 25 years. He also overviewed the achievements and failures of our country in this regard. At the end of the lecture Mr. Kavelashvili spoke about the prerequisites of social and economic development of Poland and the factors behind high economic growth of abovementioned country.
The attendees of the meeting were interested in such issues, as the importance of evidence-based policymaking in an overall development of Georgia, possible benefits from the EU after signing Association Agreement in terms of development, the features of Estonian economy model and etc.
On December 19 next public lecture will be held in the framework of lecture series “Impact of Europeanization on Public Policy Changes in Georgia”. It will be delivered by invited professor of ISU, Giorgi Gakheladze. The topic of the lecture is “Education and Science Reforms in Georgia”.
